So we bought a Mercedes (a 1983, diesel mercedes!)

Even this decision is just plain gray and fuzzy (why can’t being green be a bit more black and white?)… We decided to look for an oldie but a goodie Mercedes that we could convert to bio-diesel and we found one in mint condition. It has 170,000 miles on it and is just plain cool. The carseats will fit in the back (nevermind that there are no airbags to save the mom and dad driving), the radio works (and actually has a cd player- yee haw, the ’83 saab did not) and with a few switches of the tubes, we can get Dr. Dan’s to fill ‘er up with bio-diesel.

Now, bio-diesel is getting a bad rap for creating major resource suck to get produced and to make it across the country to us here in Seattle. But Dr. Dans says he carbon balances his gas and it is all made from waste. Hmmm. Gotta love the Pac-Northwest, there are about 4 bio-diesel pumps within 5 miles of our home including one at a coffee stand nearby… and there is a bio-diesel conference here this weekend that I may drag little Ms. Stella too- she’s going to so over-educated on this topic at the ripe age of 8 months! Gotta

Teething kiddos? Wood and rubber tree plants!

In Uncategorized on April 4, 2008 at 1:56 pm

Two favorite teething toys for our girl that you should know about:

-Earnest Efforts, based in SW Oregon, makes a wonderful wooden teething ring (from remnant woods of Oregon) that our daughter loves.

-Sophie the Giraffe is handmade in the French Alps from a rubber tree plant and all dyes on it are vegetable based

Let your kiddos chew the heck out of these two great finds.
