  1. Mandy-

hey, it is great to see this blog you are doing. Thank you for getting out there and working on this crazy mess we have in front of us as a human race. I do share hope: I think we all need to follow our hearts and minds and work hard together to do better for this planet.

Was thinking of you this week, actually; I think I still have some letters you wrote ~9-13 yrs…would you like them? Would your kids like to see what you were thinking back then? (I have no idea why I still have letters from childhood, but somehow I haven’t thrown any away.)

Am trying to start a vegetable garden @ home in NorCal–any tips? I’m starting with green manure (fava beans and wheat/rye mix) to break up the clay this winter. Hope I get more than the 1 zuchini per 2 plants I got in my first attempt last summer…

Am a water quality scientist/regulator, 10 years now, with the State of CA Water Board. Focus as of late is stormwater protection from industrial and construction sites. Am also a professional facilitator, but I haven’t done much of that in the past couple years. My husband works at Water Board, too.

Hope you are well. Best to your family!

    • Wow! I am just checking the comments here and see that your mom posted a comment a month ago as well! So great to hear from you. Did you just stumble on this blog? I never think that anyone reads this so I just use it ramble a bit. Sounds like you are working to make quality of life better as well in your job and life. Good for you. I get to CA quite a bit as my brother and his wife live in SF- was just there in August with my two girls (5 and 2). We’re totally deepening our carbon footprint by having another kiddo this spring but hopefully making good citizens. I am a new gardener as well — the first year we did boxes with soil and grew many tomatoes and squash and cukes. This year we went straight into the ground and have just lucked into really nice soil- we were giving away our sungold tomatoes b/c we just couldn’t eat any more! We both live in climates that allow for year round growing so I have to get my head around that- it isn’t just a summer activity!
I would love the letters- what a treat, if you don’t mind. Mandy Levenberg 4218 2nd Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98105
So great to hear from you!
